Picnic Benches for Summer

Our Occupational Therapist Chris and Centre Assistant Richard spent some time enjoying the sunshine today at our amazing new accessible picnic benches, with a couple of drinks from our recently installed vending machines!

Thanks to funding from the Percy Bilton Charity, our new picnic benches were made by someone with lived experience of using a wheelchair, meaning they were created with genuine understanding of how our outdoor space could be more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

In the second picture, Richard is not only demonstrating how a powered wheelchair can pull right up to the table, he's also using a ring pull aid to open his can - one of the many items available to try during a kitchen assessment at the centre.
